This event was held at the Vista Ballroom on the third floor of the Flamingo Hilton, from 7AM to 1030AM on Comdex Tuesday. It featured a hot breakfast and a keynote address from Bill Gates, as founder of Corbis. After his keynote, a representatives from Adobe, Intel, Kodak, PhotoPoint, PictureWorks and Sony has a panel discussion of imaging technology. (See Keynote and panel discussion photos.) If that wasn't enough, live demos and exhibits from many imaging technology companies rounded out this new event, sponsored by InfoTrends, a leading market research and consulting firm which focuses on image capture and Internet imaging technologies and markets.

Hewlett Packard C500xi
The HP PhotoSmart C500xi (C6746A) is a 2 megapixel (1600 x 1200) digital camera with a glass lens and a 3 X Optical Zoom. It uses Compact Flash media for storage and 3 AA rechargable NiMH batteries for power. A 2 inch LCD is used for viewing, the shutter speed ranges from 2 seconds to 1/1000 second and features a quick autofocus. The camera accepts 37mm filters and lenses.
To download pictures, a USB cable or optional serial cable can be used , but the C500xi can also print wirelessly, using Infrared JetSend technology. Approximate retail price is $944.
Hewlett Packard PhotoSmart P1100xi printer (HP C500xi on top)
The HP PhotoSmart P110xi (C6725A) is a photo quality printer which can use any type of paper and uses HP's PhotoRet enhanced color-layering print technology. It can quickly download photos from Compact Flash or Smart Media cards and can print directly from many digital cameras via USB or through Infrared JetSend technology. Approximate retail price is $582.
This cool looking camera features a 640x480 resolution and a low (under $100) purchase price.
